Keeping up with digital developments
In mid-February 2009 Ben Self, founding partner and program director of Blue State Digital (Obama's online strategy shop), visited Australia as a guest of our client, the Internet Industry Association.
Over the course of about two weeks we spent a lot of time with Ben. As you might imagine, much of the conversation revolved around strategies and tactics that make for effective digital communication programs and campaigns.
This summary video captures the essence of what worked in the Obama campaign and pulls out some lessons that we can all use.

Mobile is the missing link
Closely related to the online tactics mentioned above, we have also been working with one of the world's leading mobile integration specialists to better understand where mobile content and tactics can extend a campaign, or even form the centerpiece of a campaign. In late March 2009 we hosted a workshop for a small group of clients to take a close look at mobile ideas. As we expected, there was a lot of surprise and interest in what can now be done and examples at the workshop ranged from the pure commercial to major international causes.
We'll be in touch shortly with an initiative that brings online, mobile and traditional media together.
